Mt 21:12 And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves
When the temple was built - there was a temple area or the court of gentiles. This was the only place where gentiles who believed in Jehovah were granted access. This was a house of prayer. Because of their prejudices and self righteousness theJews denied access to the gentiles and and instead catered for for the pilgrims who came to Jerusalem for the Passover by selling lambs etc and exchanging currency. Jesus says they have made it a den of thieves implying that they were overpricing the sacrifice animals and / or not givng them the correct exchage rate. THE MORE IMPORTANT THING WAS THAT THEY TURNED THE HOUSE OF PRAYER IN TO A DEN OF THIEVES.
We thank God that our salvation was not up to the Jews. In God's plan of salvation - Israel was supposed to be the vehicle to which many nations would turn to God. Jesus cleanses the temple - by driving out those who did not respect the will of God.

Our destiny lies in Jesus and he wants to over turn the money changers and sellers and buyers in our lives - those things things that do not please God so that we could be free to worship God. MY HOUSE SHALL BE CALLED THE HOUSE OF PRAYER - Jesus does not dwell in temples made by hands - Is your House ( not your physical house) a house of prayer.
